But if you keep your opacity at a good level when adding your watermark then you will still be able to see the image beautifully but make it difficult for people to steal it. The disadvantage to watermarking over the middle is that it’s not as pretty as watermarking on the side. Another advantage is that it makes it harder for your image to get stolen and passed off as another photographers work. Even if they know their way around Photoshop it will take some pretty good post processing to take out your watermark without distorting the original image. If someone uses it as their profile picture or saves it to their computer your watermark is on it. The benefits to watermarking your image in the middle is that you have now protected your image from being taken from your blog or facebook without proper credit. In this day and age a good majority of the population is savvy with the use of Photoshop or other editing software and if they don’t already know how to crop your logo out, they’ll google how to do it. The disadvantage to watermarking on the sides or bottom of your image is that it makes it much easier for people to take the image and use it on the their facebook or print it. ![]() It looks prettier and more pleasing to the eye. The benefits to watermarking your image anywhere but the middle is that is helps to show your image off much better, you can see the subject and everything else about it. Now, let’s talk about the benefits and disadvantages to these methods. Everyone tends to watermark their images differently, some in the corners, some at the very bottom and some in the middle of the image. Let’s talk a bit about the placement of your watermark. The topic of watermarking gets brought up a lot and I want to spend some time talking about the importance of watermarking your images all the time. That means facebook, blog and any other public sites. Watermarking, it’s something that we should be doing to every single image that we share online. ![]()
